Youngest daughter wanted a nightstand. Same story, knew I could make one that was more complicated than needed and more expensive than the store while taking a really long time to decide on design and wood choices. Daughter got back at me though and asked me to paint it, Kids… no appreciation. She had liked a store version that looked weathered. Attempted to imitate using 3 different shades, think it turned out looking more beachy than distressed, but she was happy with the outcome so it is all good. Made louvered door with a jig from Rockler. Wood was cherry. Top was solid panel with bread board ends. Sides were hard wood panels, then raised the panel on the tablesaw. Kinda cool knob with map of our area of Missouri for the drawer – found on etsy. I really wasn’t kidding about making it more complicated than needed. A guy would go out of business making furniture this way, that why it is a great hobby.

Nice nightstand. I know you hate to paint cherry, but she is happy with it…that’s all that matters!

cheers, JIm
