Those of us who like to whittle are sometimes interested in wood(en) carving knives – not the knives we use to whittle, but knives made from one piece of wood. These two were designed to match some two-bladed folders in my toolbox. I have carved some entirely from a single piece of wood, but on these I have cheated by making the pivot from 1/8” hardwood dowel. The blades fold completely into the handle.

Now that is some really cool carving, don’t care if you think you cheated a little

Cool tools! You could carve wax or clay with them, right? ;) I go by the ceramics class on my way to the carving classroom at the local senior center. I often think that it might be easier to “carve” clay, since if you take off too much clay, you can just stuff another piece on and try again, where with wood, you glue it on and hope for the best. I’ll bet that there are nuances with forming clay objects that make me wrong about this.

They look very nice to me.

I wonder if the TSA would take them away!
