My first complete dovetail box. Spalted red oak, Bocote handle, cheap brass hinges. Made a few mistakes, but I told myself to see it through and learn from it. I’ve included a Imgur build link. Fist time using Stumpy nubs tablesaw dovetail jig, I need more practice with my layout and finish.

Interesting wood. The DT’s look pretty tight. Look like a success to me.
Thanks for posting.

That’s a nice looking box. It draws my attention over fancy boxes with lots of embellishments. I’m a big fan of spalted or figured wood. When you have patterns and grain that look like this I think a simple design like you made is the best way for the wood to be the main feature of the piece.

Great looking box. You know, I think everything I build I find something wrong with it. I have gotten to the point of saying to myself, “it turned out just the way I wanted”.
