Again for Christmas the Wood Buddies decided to create ornaments for all family members. This year it is Candy Cane ornaments

We used 1/8” x 4” x 12” prefinished single ply Alder from Then we used a Candy Cane graphic from their old holiday CD. Family members’ first names were engraved (raster) and then cut out (vector) on our Full Spectrum laser.

To reduce soot on the Alder or any laser project it is first covered with a Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) paper used for laser work that is also supplied by Once the canes were cut and PSA paper removed, holes were drilled for the ornament hanging wires. The wires were found in the local Walmart holiday accessory section. The Walmart store also provided the glitter paint from their craft section.

The canes were painted and the hanging wire attached to the canes back with 3/8” wide painters tape. Each cane will be placed in a Christmas card and passed out during various family’s tree decorating time.
