The kitchen table is finally done! This table was an experience for me as this is the first remotely “rustic” piece ever. I started out with these spalted hickory boards and even though they have been air dried for years, they still warped a little after the initial glue-up. As I worked the material, I thought it would be a great idea to leave some of the unevenness, a little tear out, and saw marks. It was an exercise in restraint as I really wanted to make the table flat. Anyway, I persevered and this is my reward. Spalted hickory top, poplar base stained ebony with Varathane 3x, and finished with Sherwin Williams pre-cat lacquer.

Your restraint paid off with one fine looking table
Love those saw marks and the worm holes
