Rather than build this where you use the jar to turn the light on I incorporated a switch in the top. Nice little project and will make great gifts. Actually throws quite a bit of light.

nice project. thanks for the idea of using a jar in this way, nice way to enjoy one of those antique jars.

That is an unusual idea, but nicely constructed. I’m hoping you used LEDs for lighting. Anything hotter might not work so well in a closed jar.
