Project Information
My first dovetails! Plenty of room for improvement, but I'm happy with the end result.
When I started, I intended to build the Shaker Table from the Wood Whisperer Guild. But I had very generous 8/4 leg stock, and I didn't see a reason to plane it down so far, so the project morphed from there. The front rails and drawer are made per the Shaker Table build, but I just got a Domino so I tried that on the side and back aprons and it worked beautifully.
I also wanted to add a shelf, and that's held in place with dowels. I found a cool piece of figured walnut for the top and this was also my first time working with epoxy to fill the hole in that knot.
The project is walnut and cherry with Charles Neil's Blotch Control and Arm-R-Seal semi-gloss. Too glossy for me, but it's fun to experiment with finishes.
Thanks for looking!
