I finished this desk back in February. It has held up well according to the owner. It was a special commission project made for a long time supporter. In fact, the shield above the desk was my third shield made, so it dates back to when I first started this hobby. I digress.
You may visit my blog for the 3-part series on the construction of the desk. Here I just want to post a few pics to show my work. It was a long journey. I made a makeshift desk back in 2005 or so , but nothing that I would consider furniture. This is actually my first piece of stand alone furniture. I used just about every tool in the shop with this project.
I also gained alot of confidence in using my tools and different techniques. Someone once said it is about the journey not the project and that was definitely the case here! I hadn’t used my jointer. It sat collecting dust for over a year after I’d bought it. I had to learn how to properly change blades etc. I learned the tolerance for good joinery is very small! And I learned I don’t want to make one of these anytime soon!
The “cool down” part of the project was the trash can made of scraps from the project.

Nice work on the desk Jerome. I like the treatment you gave the legs. The hanging drawers are pretty cool too.

Ironically enough, “desk” was not in the tags list
Nice desk.
