Here is a pair of step end tables with all wood joinery from Pecan Hickory lumber I bought off Craigslist.

The design is original, though I did borrow an idea from Lane Acclaim Dovetail series in regards to the walnut dovetail inlays. These are purely decorative, though they are a quarter inch thick. There were a total of 32 separate inlays, so I was quite methodical and very precise… these are super tight inlays.

The tables are very sturdy… over built it turns out. Really enjoyed working with the hickory… wish I had some more.

Beautiful tables

Too bad we’re so far apart regarding hickory

Hickory might be an acquired taste. I really like the heavy figuring… nature at it’s best. Not boring like, say. oak.

Wow! Beautiful results on an interesting design. You certainly didn’t take the easy way out on the design or construction. Well done.

Thanks, Swirt… yea, no short cuts on this one. There were a lot of steps and had to be done in a specific order.

Great looking tables. The laminated walnut accents and dovetails really pop against the pecan. I really like the color and grain variations.

You should write a blog about the build and post more construction pictures.

Thanks, Kim!

Earl – I may take you up on that. I lost some sleep trying to figure out the correct order to get that thing together.
