Inlaid Chest and Coat Rack

I had been wanting to make some sort of hall tree for a while to help organize/hide our collection of shoes and coats we had growing by our door. I ended up going with a separate chest and coat rack design instead of a full hall tree. The inlay idea and technique came from copying follow LJ Rickterscale design which I saw and liked a few months back. It is technically more of a lamination than an inlay. I also incorporated it into the raised panels on the chest which I had never seen before. Woods for both include walnut and cherry with the lamination being mahogany/maple/purple heart/maple/mahogany.

Very nice. The inlay/lamination adds a certain air of elegance to an already great looking chest and accompanying coat/hat rack. Great job.

I like this a lot. Adds extra interest to an already very nice design – both chest and coat rack. Nice work!

Awwww Mannn!!!! You used my idea I’ve been waiting to incorporate in my next chest build. Ever since seeing the video of Scotty Lewis’s cutting board, I have thought it would make for some cool panels in a hope chest. You have shown me that it does.

Great job! Definitely an eye catcher. Certain to be a family heirloom!!!

P.S. Can I borrow your idea????
