Three bar-stools from Jay Bates’s plans. They are made from 2×4s and half-laps. Pretty simple design though I complicated it by cutting all the joinery by hand. Any excuse I can get to use my new Veritas router plane. These were made for a friend who has three boys (1 + twins) so they needed to be rock solid. These are plenty stiff and plenty strong. I’ve had previous ones I built in my house for a number of years now and my four kids haven’t been able to break them yet.
