A pair of boxes I made years ago. Dovetailed 45 degree corners…8 of them a box. The lids are splined and have maple “dogbone” inlays. One of the lids I had a young lady’s high school basket ball team photo laser engraved in to it.

I tried dovetailed octagons for our box swap this past spring. The result wasn’t as clean-looking as yours, but I was surprised I couldn’t find any evidence of anyone else having tried them. Thanks for posting this project!
