Walking stick / cane – Limply Jock
A stick for the vintage architect…

A walk in the forest,
a branch on a fallen tree,
a pocket knife,
a stolen moment,
no one came,
humping home.

I see a shape,
I cut it rough,
I draw the lines,
I shape as I go,
just me in the work shop,
resting on a chair with four legs.

Looking at the trees, now supported by a branch, as the leafs are falling in October.

Hope that it will keep me going, and perhaps make you smile,

Best thoughts,

-- MAD F, the fanatical rhykenologist and vintage architect.

Boy am I disappointed I expected to see a stick walking by itself. LOL

A fun project . Poetry in woodworking.

Wow Mads, I thought that was a picture of me for a moment until I realized that I don’t have hat like that, a beard or a walking stick. You got the posture right though.

That bodyattitude is born from one thing and one thing only…Stealing woods from containers and draging wood through the streets of Paris !

Mads, you really never seize to amaze me. So now I see that you are also a poet. I like the walking stick very much and I see that you carefully picked just the right limb that had been waiting for Mads to find it. Is the picture a self portrait with the timer or did someone take it? I love the picture and see that you must surely know something also about acting or being a mime. Not just anybody can make pose like that. Your photography is always great. Mads, your just a helluva fine fellow, if you don’t mind my saying so.

Mads what is that tool to the left of the axe in the 4th pic? I haven’t seen one of those before. Is it just a spokeshave but a pull style?

Nice cane by the way.

Pure poetry in motion!

Hmmmm, the hat…. I don’t know…I like your other ones better!

That brass ferule at the end is a fine touch my friend. The eye for details….

Eric, it is called a draw knife.

suave and sophisticated, you can walk the streets of paris in style.
I would change your hat to a more distinguished one to suit tho! :-)

That looks really good! It looks fairly simple to make. I am always shaving wood, but never really making anything. I am going to try a walking stick next. Thank you for posting.

Nice! I like the way you left that small branch. That was a good idea. Too often we cut before we really think it all out. Good one!!!!!!!!!!!!
