My daughter graduated with a Masters in Animal Science, specializing in Equine Reproduction. She wanted a grad cap that reflected her major, and made of wood.

She had previously created the graphic of the momma and baby horses for a t-shirt for her classmates, so I stole that and scroll cut the graphic and her name out of an 1/8 ply panel, then glued the panel into rabbets in a slim frame to mate with the top of the cap.

Originally we put LED light strings between the cap and panel, with a white semi-translucent film in the cut-outs, but it didn’t really show up in daylight, so we just left it as shown in the pictures with the black cap showing through the cut-outs.

She will cherrish that forever, and you too, well done. Bravo for both of you.
