I have a new Great Granddaughter (McKinlee) and I figured that there is no time like the present to start on toys for her- she is 10 days old today.

This rattle is made from cherry and has 4 bb’s in each side. It was step bored then rounded out with a Dremel and glued together and turned. It is 1.1” x 4.5” and finished with EEE and Shellawax and then buffed and waxed with Carnuba wax.

cheers, Jim

Here is the little darling:

She is 8weeks old today and received her rattle ( not sure what to do with it yet)

She is older now and uses the the rattle all the time:

Looks like another winner. That should stay in the family for a few generations. :)

Very clever. I have made rattles before but I like this approach better.

Your new family addition will bring joy to everyone. Cute little rattle. Looks like your toy building skills will be challenged in the future. Enjoy great grandpa Jim.

Great rattle Jim!! The cherry turned out really pretty and great shaping! I’ve got to get me one of those dremel bits. Great work and she’ll be loving that rattle in no time!

And McKinlee is beautiful :))
