I’ve wanted built in bookcases in my spare bedroom since I moved into this house 15 years ago. But I was always too afraid to do it. Well, a few weeks ago I finally took the plunge! I worked on this project in my spare time and I’ll be the first to admit I made some mistakes! So while it may not be perfect I’m very happy with how it turned out.
The bookcases are 3/4” plywood and the face frames are pine. The shelves are also 3/4” plywood but I trimmed the front and back of each shelf with red oak. Hopefully this will help prevent sag.

Those look really nice! Clever to frame the window like that. I imagine it will look good filled up too.
My dad says, there is no such thing as an empty shelf ;)
