My daughter chose “Wood & Lace” as the theme for her wedding. It was an incredible joy and privilege to spend time with her (and her fiance) building the wedding decorations in the months leading up to their special day. See my other projects for six more projects we made for the wedding.

We made 140 “Lacemats” from 1/8” plywood painted with a lace “stencil”. Each one we hand sanded the edges and rounded the corners. Fortunately the ply came pre-sanded so the faces were smooth.

I made a frame to stretch the lace over, then spray painted with a satin white. We could spray 15 mats with each piece of lace.

Many wedding guests asked how we did it, and some thought there was actual lace glued to the wood. :)

I made two placemats 1/4” thick for the bride & groom. Used wax paper transfer to apply their new family logo to each placemat. The process is to print the logo backwards on wax paper with my inkjet photo printer, then immediately apply the wax paper to the wood and carefully rub the ink in without moving the wax paper. Worked great for these and for 120 invitations (separate project post).
