My kids wanted a sand box and I kept putting it off, one day after I bought a storage cabinet my two daughters started playing Dora the Explorer in the box. The cabinet’s box was the boat , and they played in that old box everyday till it fell apart. So I thought why not make the sandbox a multi function play area. After some 2 X 6’s , 2 X 4’s and some plywood they have their own SandBox Boat with telescope and Helm. They now travel the world right in there own backyard. Please feel free to leave comments or ask questions. Thank you for taking a look.

That’s excellent and I’m sure something your kids will enjoy for quite a while. I do like how it is made into more then just a sandbox, a very nice addition :)

The vet side of me speaking
I would encourage you to cover it in some manner to prevent the cats and raccoons and whatever other animals messing around in it when you aren’t around. It makes a great litter box and all. The raccoons can carry a roundworm, baylisascaris, which is zoonotic and can go into the brain and eyes of people causing various problems. There are other bugs which people can get as well, some depending on location. If you want more information I’d be happy to share. I have included a link below, which gives some general information if anyone wants to just read a little more.

(this all said with the clarification that I am not a veterinarian yet, but in my 3rd year of vet school)
