another 3d board

I didn’t need another cutting board but I’m a sucker for those 3d illusions and couldn’t resist making one with this pattern. After making up the 3 piece square posts and gluing up into larger boards I then watched mtm’s video of his build with this pattern and discovered his process is totally different than mine. His method creates seams and glue lines in many of the segments. Not knocking mtm. He is the GOAT builder of cutting boards. (with maybe degoose as a close second) Board is 21.5” x 16” and 2.25” thick, 17 lbs. I opted for a single handle so that it can be maneuvered with one hand and no feet so that it can be used on either side. Walnut, mahogany, maple and cherry.

I had fun with this build. Found it to be one of the easier designs.

I’m wondering if you can do this in the round? The depth illusion might be interesting in a spiral? I wouldn’t have any idea how to do it. LOL! Great craftsmanship.

Wow! What an outstanding optical illusion. It’s a reel eye catcher. Nice work!

Beautiful work Jim. There must be quite a pile of sawdust from this project. ;)
