A birthday present for our daughter, this weekend project (as with all my projects) turned into a 3 week adventure. The case frame is made with 2×4’s. The top is made with a 2×8 and a 2×10. I found the plans online. The top was lightly scorched with a propane torch, gel stained, sanded then polyurethaned. And that’s where, predictably, the project began to lengthen. I always try to brush on poly and am never satisfied. So I repeated that exercise before breaking out the Earlex HVLP sprayer to apply most of the poly coats. I’m sure it wasn’t necessary but I enjoy rubbing out finishes using pumace and rottenstone. I’ll be glad when I run out. Ha. Anyway, it turned out very nice in my humble opinion. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed building it. Many thanks as always to Bo Jones for his advice, instruction, and the use of his woodshop!

Another good Father. It will serve it’s function of holding books the exact same if it were made of some exotic hardwood costing many times the price, so you did well on the economics scale. Plus it looks very nice. Nice job.
Thanks for posting.
