Wedding Present

I created this cutting of Katie, an old friend, as a wedding present. The second image is the photo that I used. Since a cutting is a black and white, with no shades of grey, scroll saw picture, it was difficult making it look right with wedding dresses being shades of white on white. The cutting is created by splitting a wooden blank, cutting the picture on one half, and then gluing the wood back together with a piece of velvet between them.

You did a very nice job on that piece and I’m sure it is one of the nicest gifts she received.

I know how hard it is to turn a photo into something that is just 2 colors. I carve pumpkins for Halloween using the same process to turn photos into something that will translate into 2 colors.
