Saw these and had to try one. This is a 3 inch tall Whittle Folk Troll, original pattern by Don Mertz, the Wood Bee Carver http://woodbeecarver.com/dl/WHITTLE_FOLK_TROLLS.pdf Carved in Basswood, then BLO applied. It’s a lot harder than Don makes it look.

Yep! It’s hard to see, but there is a little toe on the caricatures right foot.

Claude, He don’t look like he’s having a good day. Maybe his feet are hurting him. He’s quite amusing nonetheless.

And then WHAT!!

Very neat carving.

If you spent 1/2 day with a camera on a corner in downtown Portland OR; you would have enough characters to keep you carving for years! Portland weird!
