I got the inspiration for this project from Stevinmarin. I like to listen to and watch PodCasts from my IPod at work. The problem is finding somewhere to “prop it up” so that I can see the screen.

I love watching Steve’s videos but I really like his approach to simplicity when comes to design and execution. So I took what he does with simplistic design and came up with this.

I was working in the shop the other day and I happened to have my IPod in my pocket. I had just cut a piece of walnut that was about the size of my IPod. So I used my IPod as the measuring rule for the entire project. I think I have about 45 minutes in the whole thing including waiting for the glue to setup. Crazy simple to make.

I only used two tools to make the holder, the table saw to rip and crosscut to size and the router table for the rabbit and the round over on the base. If I were to make a second one I wouldn’t cut the angle so steep. At the angle that it is now it makes it hard to see the screen sitting at my desk due to the reflection from the lights in the office.

Thanks Steve for the inspiration!
