For my son’s birthday, I made him one of his favorite characters out of one inch square wood blocks. I painted them all first, then glued them to a piece of plywood. I used a flush trim bit to remove the plywood around the edges. A little black paint on the edges and a clear coat. I used brass keyhole inserts from Lee Valley. They work great. I hope he likes it.

Ok, this is very cool and a great gift – and I was stunted when you said ‘brass keyhole inserts’ – as to ‘what for’? But then I answered my own question, of course to hang it up. duh. Great job, Tom, and I’m sure your son will love this gift and appreciate all the work it took to accomplish – tedious and lots of detail!

Nice Tom! Mega Man looks like he took a lot of work!

Nice job! He’s going to love this for years to come and will hopefully be inspired to take up woodworking too!
