After my neighbor and friend saw the stand I made for the praying hands he gave my wife he wanted one for himself. I told him I would love to make him one no charge. I was at his house when he was trying to describe the stand to his son, he was on the phone. I told him I’ll print out some pictures and you can take them with you when you visit him that evening. I decided instead to print my LumberJock project description with LJ comments.
He came back the next day and said he read the description to others in his family and they all want one too. He wants twelve and insist on paying. So… this is my first commissioned woodworking project. I made the delivery of the first six yesterday and started on the next six… he told me he may want more.
The original project was entered in the LJ’s summer contest theme Fluidity of Inspiration and Hope, which is why I provided such a personal write up. So even though I didn’t win any of the prizes, I did get a commissioned job that paid for my new Powermatic Jointer. Thanks to my fellow LJ’ers and their wonderful comments, you make us all winners.

Hi Mike, yea a bit of a tool gloat but the jointer fit nicely in front of my planer. I told Kathy I’m done with the big tools… no more room. She just rolled her eyes. HaHa. I’m sure if I had to I could find more room.
