Chair leg replacement

This chair came to me with the rear leg glued back together. I’ve hi-lighted two different views of the breaks for clarity. Both the glue repairs were sure to break again given their location near the spindle holes so a new leg had to be made. The initial cuts were made on a bandsaw followed by a drawknife, then a spokeshave, a Japanese rasp, a cabinet maker’s rasp and finally sandpaper. Some relaxing but critical work that could only be accomplished the old fashioned way.

Very nice job! Now if only it was the right color…
