My nephew and his wife are moving into their new house soon. I was looking for the right gift when I saw what Builtinbkyn made for his neighbor. So I thought I’ll give that a try, while it’s not the caliber of Builtinbkyn’s, I think it turned out pretty good.
I used all scrap wood from the pile, the box is made of pine and the stopper from Maple with a CA finish, and the shaving came off the floor. The woodburning on the sliding lid, well, that my first attempt at that too.
I appreciate the Lumberjocks who post their treasures everyday and allow me to view them. I learn so much from these fine woodworkers.
Thanks for inspiring

Joe, what a great idea and a great stopper. The box and the stopper both look super. What a nice job on the pyrography. I know this will make a great gift. Keep turning and keep posting.

Very nice Joe. Like the box too. I have given away lots of projects but no I think I’ll start making boxes to give them in. Thanks for the inspiration!

Joe, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So thank you for that ;) I too have learned so much from reading thru blogs and posts here. LJs is a great resource for woodworkers of any level of experience.

Your stopper and box came out great and I really like the wood burning you did on the lid. I’m sure your nephew and his wife will appreciate it and it’s thoughtfulness. Nice work!
