Was given a square piece of walnut that was about 3” thick but had several cracks throughout it. So took a chisel and split off all the pieces that were about to fall off. Using an 8” clear PVC pipe as the template layed out the pieces and made the circle on them. Cut out the pieces then hot glued them to a piece of plywood slightly bigger than 8”, slipped the PVC over and covered with Alumilite. It came out looking like a German chocolate cake. After turning it I used India ink to ebonize the walnut and finished with 3 coats of Watco lacquer. This was my first try at ebonizing a piece of wood. It came out pretty nice I think.
