This was my first big project that I took on. I think it turned out decent for not having a lot of experience and or a lot of tools. Pulled this design out of my head. Quarter sawn Oak with Mahogany door Panels and Purple Heart for the draw fronts. It is 24 inches tall by about 14 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches deep.

I stained it with Red Mahogany and finished with 3 coats of satin polyurethane. Had to trick the wife to see what color she liked. Took several different samples in and just left them on the counter. The Purple Heartwood drawer fronts I just urethaned.

Pretty advanced stuff. You nailed the grain on the drawer fronts. I’m not a huge fan of the pulls, but that’s personal.

Rich, neither am I. But at the time it was the best I could find at the local store. Ran out of time to order anything better. Plus I had just had surgery the week before Christmas. Had to wait for the wife to go back to work so I could sneak back out to the shop to finish it in time.

Hey, I just notice you got a Daily Top 3! That’s killer. Congratulations. I’m looking forward to more of your work.

Reconsidering the pulls… That piece has real character and the more I look at it, the better I like them.

Thanks. Working up a new design for a box for one of my sister-in-laws. My wife requested that I build one for her.

Thats a nice piece, I really like the contrast colors between the Oak and Purple Heart.

Great design choices! Many people forget about grain matching, especially on something with a lot of drawers.
