This is my first post, I’ve been reading post daily for a few months but this was the first project I was proud enough to post. It’s of course a cedar chest built out of some cedar my friend had cut a few years back. This was our first shot at raised panel anything. It is going in an auction at his church. It was a fun project and I thought it turned out nice. Thanks for looking.

No finish yet, probably just seal it with something to bring out the color. I’m open for suggestions on that.

You don’t often see cedar chests that are actually all cedar. Very pretty!

Do you have anough cedar to build a second? It is almost a shame to see this one leave.

This is really great , I like the design.

I have some western cedar that I am planning to build a chest for my daughter. At this point I’m amazed at how brittle the cedar is to work with. My stock is 1’ by 12’ in ten foot lengths, but I have to admit I’m having a heck of a time finding sections of size to work with. at this point I’m thinking I’m going to have to frame it with oak to have a workable surface.

Do you have advice, dimensions or plans you’d care to share?
