Finished my last two Bat Boxes for a while. These two are for my Grandson and I. Got tired of the bat design that came with the Box plans so I went creative on the Bat and gave him Battitude. I am sure my Grandson will appreciate it when I take it over tomorrow.

I use nylon screen for the chambers where the bats live. I added the screen to the landing pad below to make it easier for them to land and crawl into the chambers.

The plan is from Winfield Collection Bat House Plan. It is a fairly simple plan if you want to encourage Bats in your area to stick around and keep the insect population under control. It is amazing how many flying insects a Bat eats in one night.

You can get information on building a simple Bat Box, and the advantages of having Bats in your area, on the National Wildlife Federation website.

Our old place we had bats aplenty, the new place not so much. I’ve been thinking of making something. I may copy your idea to dress it up, and explain to the uninitiated what that goofy looking box is doing on the shady side of the barn.

Nice work, and thanks for posting.

These boxes are so nice and beautifully done and they are definitely proof that with creativity and talent you can make just about any sort of box that you can imagine. I like these very much.

The bat on the front is great. These are a lot of fun to make. I’m going to try the screen on the next one I do. Last time I cut small grooves with my table saw and it took too long. Nice project
