As part of a major kitchen renovation now underway we decided to declutter the counter top. There was a small TV and DVD player for viewing recipes and woodworking videos (and some TV time) that was taking up valuable counter space – and obstructing the view of our new glass tile back-splash installed with considerable effort.

Looking through the precision cut off bin I found some oak and a cherry dowel and made the piece you see in the pictures. I prefinished all the pieces and then doweled them together. Four brackets and one additional screw in the back mount it firmly to the wall. All wiring is concealed behind the DVD player and it is well ventilated. Waiting for the four coats of tung oil to dry was the biggest part of the project.

Looks good, like the wood choice and color.

Hi Gul

Thanks – I guess there must be challenges being a female woodworker in your country. Keep at it, it will be worth the effort. A larger full featured wall mounted entertainment centre would look very nice. I like the floating look when there are no legs and wires.

Nice clean project. I love the flecking in the QS top.
