Watching Sam Maloof’s documentry even before YouTube days planted the seeds of woodworking. It took many years before the seeds were watered to germinate. The man is an inspiration. Goal is to build a Maloof inspired Rocking chair and I thought this Sculpted table would be a good start.
The plans for this design by Maloof was written by David Thiel for Popular Woodworking. I tried to follow as much with the skills, tools and wood I had and this is my end result.
This is finished using Rubio Monocoat.
I initially started working on this last fall on and off. Few shortcomings on this particular piece and more than happy to point it out if anyone is interested. Just let me know.

Very sensitive design elements in the legs and the small pieces between the legs.
I bet Sam would smile.
Well done.
