So i saved this log from the burn pile late in 2017. It had several areas from bugs that weakened and damaged the tree, but those areas are what drew me to this log. I took it home and kept it in my shop for several months before choosing something to make from it, A SHOP STOOL. Take a look at my process and how i made this old discarded log into something useful.

That was fun. Thanks for sharing.

Can’t beat a hand planer, and an angle grinder for changing the shape of something. To see a chair in that bug ate stump is truly vision.

Thanks Steve! It took a while for me to find a project for that piece. I actually tried to get some turners to make it a bowl, but they felt it was too unstable. So i Brought it home and just so happened to sit on it at my workbench, and they lightbulb came on!
