Client wanted a bench to set his audio/visual gear on that matched the T&G pine walls in the movie room. This bench has a sliding top so the cables at the rear can be accessed easier, a drawer for storage and two storage areas in each side. The client requested that the bench angle back to the wall and not be at a 90 deg angle to it. The client also requested rope lights around the lip, which I was against at first… but once the rope lights were installed and the lights dimmed in the room during a movie, they gave the room a “cinema” feel and the bench a more “purposed” look (I’m a wood worker, not a decorator.) Both the drawer and sliding top ride on Hettich Quadro, quiet, soft self closing drawer slides.

This is a really nice design! The sliding top makes a lot of sense.

yes, this is my own design… I guess I’d have to give some credit to the home owner. We talked about what he wanted and what his budget/style would allow. I threw a few ideas at him… this one stuck.
