This was a bowl blank laying around the high school shop and no one wanted it because it had this big crack all the way through one side, so I turned it between classes and brought it home and split at at the crack and made these 2 pencil cans. They have 2 – 5/8” rare earth magnets glued in the back so they hang on any steel surface.
I thought they might look nice with some fractal burned patterns on them and I got carried away.
They are finished with Danish oil and clear enamel.

Something great out of scrap love it ! The burn really stands out nicely on those handy pencil cups….

Hey Jim, the extra burning makes it look more natural. Cool idea to split it and make two.

Really stunning. I’m curious about the blood spot on the wall. That’s why I haven’t tried fractals ;-)
