This is a multi-use game board I designed and built for our home. It is made from Mahogany (Sapele) and Rock Maple, and contains game boards for Chess, Checkers, and Quoridor. The chess/checker board is end-grain, and the internal storage of felt lined with green flocking. The Quoridor game board is a maple floating panel inside a mahogany frame to allow for expansion. Time will tell if I allowed enough room for expansion. The cabinet corners have maple splines using a spline jig I made. It my first attempt at splines, and they turned out great. I love the contrast of maple on mahogany.

Great design and execution! I might have to copy that in the future. I bet it will get a lot of use.

This is a great looking project, extremely professional looking, wonderful job on design, construction, and finishing. The use of the contrasting splines adds to the beauty of the box. I hope you have many enjoyable hours playing games with friends and family.

Did you follow a set of plans or did you create your own? Thanks for inspiring

Thanks for the comments. This was my own design. It had gone through multiple iterations on paper over the last couple of months, then I just bit the bullet and began working on it over the last several weeks.

Love it. Congrats on a great project. (love Quoridor by the way – super fun game that’s quick to play)
