A while ago I made this custom set of chisels in my shop for a fellow hand tool lover.
The wood is leadwood, the steel is O1 with brass ferulles. It was a beautifull project to make and I had lots of fun.

Beautiful – Almost too beautiful for me to be comfortable using them (can you imagine striking those with a wooden mallet or, shudder, a copper one?). Truly spectacular!

Outstanding! I’ve often thought of using tapered ferrules. They came out as nice as I imagined.
