This wood is salvaged firewood. Sputnik is a spalted maple spherical box with 2 drawers. One obvious, one hidden. One of my firsts attempts at a sperical box. The hood is made of oak which turns clockwise to push the drawer out. The leather keeps the user from turning the hood too far and protects the woods from touching each other when closed.
