I’m a long time lurker on the site, but decided to break my silence with my most recent project. First off this site is great and has provided me great inspiration, so thanks for that. I just completed an entertainment stand, and am very pleased with it. I found the slab last summer and it just called my name! Finally got around to building a worthy base for it this winter. It’s all walnut, with drawer sides/back curly maple. I admit the shelving is plywood, though the rest is solid wood! I finished it with a coat of Seal-a-Cell, then 3 coats of satin Enduro-Var (5 coats on the slab). After getting it all set up I’ve decided the tv needs to be mounted on the wall. The slab looks too good to be covered with a tv! Thanks again for the tips and inspiration, even if you didn’t know you were giving it! Hopefullly, I may have a thing or two to contribute in the future.

Looks great. I like how the color lightens on the top near the edges.

Nice work. That top slab is really beautiful; I can see why you designed the entire piece around it.

Nicely done! Drawers look great with the dovetails. How did you attach the top?

Black Walnut is one of my favorite woods and is easy to machine. I really like that top – beautiful indeed! Well done!

Thank you all for the comments! I ran 1/2 inch dowels into the tops of the legs and glued them to the top.

Looks great. I agree with shifting the TV to the wall, that top is too eye catching to cover! Welcome to Lumberjocks.
