My future father-in-law is a fan of Snap-on tools so I’ve been on the lookout for a fun Snap-on related gift for the past several months. I found a jammed and rusted F-70N Snap-on ratchet at an estate sale for $0.50 and ground it into a bottle opener. I made custom holder for it out of red oak, with magnets to hold it in place and a keyhole hanger on the back. The lid is beech from an old desk drawer with splines made from scraps of Chakte Kok. I found an old Snap-on ad and used it to make a custom label for the lid. Part of the label tore during glue up so, at the recommendation of my fiance, I distressed the edges of the label to blend it in. I finished everything with tung oil, which really helped the label look old and faded.

Cool idea. An industrial grade bottle opener.
