Finished my headboard for our king size bed. Patterned after the Stickley Highland bed. Solid Cherry with Walnut accents and pegs. Two coats of diy teak oil. I waited 7 days to be sure the oil was dried then applied 4 coats of water borne Varathane sanded with 600g in between. I will start the footboard soon. That will be part 2 of 3 for the bed.

Mark, that is beautiful and your execution is flawless. I am really happy that I don’t have to move it; it is a massive piece. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks gents.
Art. The Mrs. (or as we say around here…the memsahib) and I move fairly easily in and out of the basement.

That is a nice headboard. Reminds me I need to get started on my Captains bed plans.

My thoughts exactly… Needing to build a bed is one of the things that brought me back into this whole woodworking habit. And I still haven’t even thought about plans!

One of these days, I’ll get around to it. In the meantime, I can enjoy the fine craftsmanship on projects like this!

Cheers,
TF
