This has been an on again off again project for about 1.5 yrs. It represents the first time I have tried anything near this scale and complexity. It broke me of ever trying hand cut dovetails in hard maple again. As with so many woodworking projects, the lessons learned and the personal challenge are worth more than the piece. The drawer fronts are massive and could present a wood movement problem, but by the time I understood that, it was too late to change the design. I learned the hard way why so many carcass backs are ship lapped. I had to go back and retro fit that. Several of you have helped with specific questions I have had throughout this project, and I couldn’t have done it without the help. Thanks!

That is really really nice. I like that you offered the burls to be prominently displayed on the drawer fronts. That’s an heirloom piece for certain!

As a kid I had almost an identical dresser to that, made by my Dad, and his Brother. They had a load of Maple boards left after a big job, and made up quite a few of those. My Sisters, myself, and several cousins all had that dresser. Your Maple is quite a bit more interesting that ours was though. Mine is currently in use by a favorite Niece of ours. I believe all of them are still in the family.

Nice job.
