Project Information

This morning I finally got around to making a display for my wedding gift from my best friend, Todd. The knife was too nice to put aside somwhere so I made this little stand for my office. Never messed with sliding dovetails, not perfect but they'll do just fine. I think they add a little character to such a simple piece. Used some scraps I had lying around, went to good use. Materials are black walnut and ambrosia maple, finished with some wipe on.

I might have a slight problem with maple and walnut FYI - need a new combo to play with, but I have so much material it makes it hard!

Thanks for checking it out!

I am an old marine so I love the ka-bar. like your stand but would have put the knife in front for easier access and viewing since it is the important part.

Thanks for the feedback guys and I agree with the placement. In person it presents better, but still up front would've probably been better. I have the knife at a 30 degree, or so angle to present and the sheath is not.

I clicked the image just to see the knife. Never been in the service, just a knife enthusiast, but i dont think there is a more well rounded knife than a ka-bar.

Also fantastic work on the sliding dovetails. Those are on my list of things to learn still.
