This is a box I created to house all my Risk board games and pieces. If you are anything like me, you have a favorite board game that has grown with expansions, boards, and pieces. I made this to keep all my pieces in one place and keep them organized.

  • Made from Hickory and Hickory plywood. Shout out to all you guys here on Lumber Jocks, I was worried about expansion and contraction and really didn’t want to use plywood, and you guys gave me great insight and talked me into it. It worked out great and I couldn’t be happier.
  • The sides are continuous grain around 3 sides and the back is connect with a double hing so that the top can fold out flat.
  • Risk on top is a hardwood inlay dyed with “Red Mahogany” dye I picked up from Rockler.

The rabbet you see in the photos is there to accept bigger boards I have. You can see how it works in the make video below.

Nice job. Always a good idea to have everything in one place. Looks like everything fit perfect.

Sure did Dave, like a glove. Fits my needs perfectly. Thanks for the kind words esp from a fellow Chicago suburb guy. Just drove back from Oak Brook no more than 20 minutes ago.

I loved to play Risk back in the day! Kevin, you did an amazing job on this. I must say, you taught an “old dog” (me) some new tricks! Great build, great video and great project. Well done young man!
