My neighbours daughter like to make things from the left over wood out of my trash. From time to time she visit me in my shop. I do the saw and glue activities, but see is the builder and likes to make it according here fantasy. I like making models but working with this lady from six years old gives also a lot of pleasure.

Kids color outside the lines.
There was a test of this idea I saw and have since tried several times. Take a clean piece of paper. Draw a rectangle in the middle and give it to a child under 5 and tell them to finish the drawing. About 80+ % of the time they will draw outside the box. Do the same thing to an adult and they will almost always draw inside the box.

My kids and grand kids always enjoyed playing with the pieces of wood in the scrap box. My dog even comes into the shop to steal scraps to take outside and chew on. What I don’t know is how she knows the scraps from the more usable pieces I save.

There is something special when a child wants to spend time in your shop. It’s a place where they can let their imaginations run wild. Great story!

I think that she is very creative and has a lot of imagination. Have fun in the shop and may you always be happy in your work.

Great first project post for her!!!
The first reminds me of the factory I worked in many years ago.
The last looks like a circle making jig. LOL

That is a neat build… You should make an ACAD drawing and put it up for sale… just don’t forget to charge her royalties… no one appreciates a 6 year old millionaire…

Absolutely great, and in my opinion sure does beat playing with an IPAD or Commputer.
