This is a made from scratch 5 foot long high detailed model of the USS Missouri. The internal hull frame work is made if 1/4” plywood and sheeted with 1/16” bass wood. The superstructure is also bass. The main picture is at a point where it is coming together, Top left and right shots are as thing progressed then some detail shots. I turned the 16” gun barrels on my 36” bed lathe. That was fun. The model is strictly static.

Look for My 6 foot long R/C Fletcher class destroyer also of wood and my hand casted fiberglass hull.

These are some very impressive models you’ve been building! I hope they’re displayed proudly!

Like you, I make large scale models of trains, but when I see what you have done, I want to toss mine in the fire. Your work is incredible; definitely museum quality.

BB-63 one of the most iconic treasures that remain from WWII.

Very impressive work-where do you display a 5 foot replica of the USS Missouri?

Did you make a mini medallion to place on the surrender deck?

Thanks you so much for sharing…history plus woodworking, two of my favorites.

All I can say is WOW!

This makes me say again that we need a forum for model makers, just like that for CNC users.
