Had a lovely stick of cherry that had 2 handles. I didn’t know which one to cut off, so I left them both. The only problem was that it had a crack.
I decided to fill the void with resin.
Before doing anything to the stick itself, I practiced on a bit of scrap. As it had been some years, since I had used resin.
Wanting something other than clear resin in the void I chose to put a section of chain within resin.
When it all came together and worked, it needed something to finish it off. So I carved the dog head on the end of the chain.
The stick was then stained and oiled.

Wow! Great idea! Isn’t it amazing how Mother Nature makes such comfortable handles for us? I have often had to choose between two handles on one branch – never occurred to me to use both. Thanks for posting.

Nice way to deal with that check in the cherry Theresa. That is a common problem that I encounter with cherry sticks. Checking is almost guaranteed.
Nicely done, with a great outcome.
