  • My Tea cup holder was well received (as a Christmas present) and I was approved for my next project – Espresso set holder. The only requirement was – it should fit in the china cabinet. No problem – espresso set is usually 4 cups and they are much smaller.
  • I used the rest of the cherry board. This time I decided to try sliding dovetail between base and vertical part. It took me few tries. The result was not perfect, but “good enough”.
  • The spoon holder is the same board: I make dado in the middle of the piece of the board; crosscut it in half; and glued rectangle well.
  • I had more time for the finish – I put few BLO layers (now I know – cherry loves BLO) and let it cure for a week. After that I put 3-4 layers of wiped-on poly with light sanding in between.
  • Here is picture of two ‘siblings’ for size comparison:

Looks like I covered for the Valentine’s Day! ;)

Thanks. It was my first experience with cherry and the wood is beautiful.
