Made my last name into a marquee for a decoration for our upcoming wedding. Cut all the letters out of 3/4 in plywood and painted them grey. Drilled all my holes to receive the light sockets. The plywood was wrapped in 3.5 in valley tin that I got from my local Ace. I used brads and CA glue to secure the tin to the letters. Finally took apart strands of globe lights and inserted the sockets into the hole with just a friction fit. I rewired all the sockets to the light strand and plugged it in!
The plan is to display it above our DJ table at our reception. I ended up using about 65 globes total in the letters. I used a Jimmy Diresta video as a good reference for ours. Thanks for looking!
